I've been watching the McShep Match wank from a safe distance. It's probably the most excitement the fandom has seen in a while.

It's one of the stupidest wanks I'ver ever seen. It should be possible to say, for instance, "Some people were unhappy with the general lack of team spirit so we changed the sign-ups" instead of making vague allusions to people being miserable for various reasons and, in the process, leaving room for all kinds of interpretations that make yet more people miserable because they think they're being attacked in some way.

Oh yeah. The weasel wording did not help at all. It makes everyone think that there's some special butt hurt going on behind the scenes. The other thing that didn't help was djin coming in with her mod hat (on a comm she's not the mod for, WHAT THE HELL?!)and saying We don't want to speed the old guard on their way out of anything, but if it gets to the point that a fest is always only fun for a small number, the loss of them at some point will kill it stone dead. We have to run things for the broader fandom or we may as well give up now. And then acting all surprised when people 1)think that she's the mod and 2)are offended that a mod is telling long-timers to not let the door hit them on the way out. If she's such an experienced mod, how the hell did she think that that WOULDN'T happen? Idiot.
